Best Airgun for Hunting

If you are looking for Best Airgun for Hunting then the below Benjamin Maruder pellet air rifle is best to read.

Benjamin Marauder Pellet Air Rifle Review

Having hunting buddies who share my love for pellet air rifles means I get to try out a wide variety of pellet rifles. One of the pellet air rifles that I have tested and been impressed with is one of my buddy's Benjamin Marauder pellet air rifle.

A 10-shot repeater rifle, this Benjamin rifle is not the most powerful 177 air rifle I have used, but it gets the job done.

Unlike some of the other rifles I have used, this air rifle is a Pre-charged pneumatic or PCP air rifle, meaning that it requires an air pump. Given that I rarely use PCP rifles, I was pleased with the rifle’s air pressure gauge that indicates when it is time for a refill.

I have no complaints with the 2 stage metal adjustable trigger of the rifle. Also, the rifle’s choked barrel proved to be a great feature for improving the rifle’s accuracy. The gun is fitted with a 215cc air reservoir, which I found to be easy to fill using the quick-disconnect fitting.

Thumbs Up

  • The rifle can be adjusted to fire at different velocities
  • The rifle’s synthetic stock is rugged and ideal for all weather use
  • Measures 43 inches in length making it suitable for different shooters
  • The rifle is amazingly quiet

Thumbs Down

  • Does not come with either iron sights or a scope

  • Weighs 8.5 pounds
  • Synthetic stock
  • 3000 PSI fill pressure
  • Adjustable muzzle velocity
  • Metal trigger

This PCP rifle from Benjamin is an all-around and versatile rifle fit for hunting pests. Given that the gun’s velocity is adjustable, it is suitable for both professional and beginner shooters.

However, some pros enjoy the thrill of firing a powerful air rifle.

So if you are a pro looking for the best airgun for hunting, this might not be the right one for you. This is an air rifle I recommend to beginners who want to learn how to use an air rifle.

Best Break Barrel Air Rifle Reviews

The break barrel types of air rifles are my favorite, and I have owned a couple these great rifles. From the various rifles I have used, I have picked the following two for review, and for good reasons, which will be captured in the review.

Benjamin 392 Bolt Action Variable Pump Air Rifle Review

No products found.

The Benjamin 392 Bolt Action variable pump air rifle has a rather unassuming body. Nevertheless, it is one of the best .22 rifles. A multi-pump pneumatic rifle, this Benjamin model boasts of a beautiful Monte Carlo hardwood stock and shoots pellets at a velocity of 685 fps.

In regards to power, the 392 again excels and is capable of 14.9 FPE. Since it uses compressed gas, do not expect to be bothered by recoil when firing this excellent weapon.

Regarding performance and accuracy, it relies heavily on how you pump it. However, it can shoot pellets from a distance of 40 yards, which is impressive for a pump air rifle.

Thumbs Up

  • It is affordable
  • Produces little recoil
  • It is a powerful rifle capable of shooting at 800 fps
  • Comes fitted with a rear sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation
  • Is a very accurate rifle

Thumbs Down

  • The trigger can be hard to pull
  • The rifle needs a lot of pumping

  • 685 pellet velocity for lead pellets
  • 5.5 pounds
  • 36.7 inches long
  • Bolt action mechanism
  • .22 caliber
  • Single shot capacity
  • Rifled barrel

Who is it for?

The 392 Bolt Action is reasonably priced for beginners and newbie shooters. Additionally, it is not as complicated as other rifles out there.

Nonetheless, the fact that you have to pump it may be annoying to some. All the same, this is a great rifle especially for beginner shooters and for target practice.

The question, which is the best pellet gun? Is not easy to answer, considering the vast assortment of great pellet guns for hunting available for your selection.

But there are some pellet guns that stand out from the rest. Two such pellet guns are reviewed below. These pellet gun reviews are based on my personal experiences with the two rifles.

AirForce Texan Big Bore Air Rifle Review

The Texan Airfoce Big Bore air rifle is not your ordinary air rifle. This powerful pellet gun is powerful enough to take down most big game.

Of worth noting is that this air rifle is proudly and entirely made in the US. And while this is enough to make you want to buy it, it is also a lightweight air gun that weighs a meager 8 pounds.

Additionally, the level on this gun is amazingly smooth while the trigger requires about 32 ounces of pull, which is excellent for a weapon this powerful. Being a powerful PCP air gun, this air rifle has an impressive pressure capacity of 3000 PSI.

Thumbs Up

  • It is a sturdy but lightweight air gun
  • The gun does not have any reverse recoil
  • Maintaining the gun is super easy
  • The gun has a smooth level

Thumbs Down

  • The gun is quite long so you might need to get a bi-pod

  • 34-inch rifled barrel
  • 3000 PSI maximum pressure fill
  • 0.45 caliber
  • 2 stage adjustable trigger
  • Automatic cocking safety
  • 1000 FPS pellet velocity

The Texan Big Bore is no toy, so you should not handle it as a toy. That being said, this gun is ideal for pros and not beginners. For pros, this is the perfect air rifle for taking down a significantly larger game and for hunting such as deer.

Dragon Claw Dual Tank Air Rifle Review

Another air rifle that is known for being a powerful air rifle for deer hunting is the Dragon Claw Dual Tank air rifle from Sam Yang.

Capable of firing 210-grain slug at a velocity speed of 650 FPS, this is not your average air rifle. And while it is a single shot rifle, you should not dismiss it, especially if its stopping power you are looking for.

The trigger is smooth and does not have any problems. Being a powerful air rifle, this gun requires a SCUBA tank to re-fill. All the same, the gun comes fitted with a set of iron sights which makes it not only powerful but also accurate.

If you do not have confidence in the iron sights, you also get a rail for installing a scope or a red dot.

Thumbs Up

  • It is a powerful pellet gun
  • Can fire up to 16 shots without requiring a re-fill
  • Has two iron sights one front and a rear one
  • It is a lightweight gun weighing only 4.8 pounds
  • It is as accurate as it is powerful

Thumbs Down

  • It is a single shot rifle, meaning you have to cock it every time you fire

  • 0.50 caliber
  • 500 CC pressure reservoir
  • 679 fps pellet velocity
  • Dual air tank
  • Single shot rifle
  • 21.60-inch rifled barrel

Who is it for?

Similar to the Big Bore Texan, this Sam Yang rifle is not a toy and is powerful enough for hunting large game. As such, this is the ideal rifle for a pro.

Evanix Tactical Sniper Carbine Air Rifle Review

No products found.

At first glance, it is easy to mistake the Evanix Tactical Sniper Carbine air rifle with one of those modified guns used by Matt Damon in the 2013 Sci-Fi flick Elysium. So does this gun perform as great as it looks?

Well, its price tag seems to suggest that it does.

Weighing 8.2 pounds, this rifle is a tad heavier than other guns and its rather hefty nose does not make things any lighter.

But do not let this be a deal breaker, as this Tactical sniper rifle has a smooth cocking lever. Operating this level is smooth and effortless. The positioning of the pressure gauge is another thing that I love about the Evanix Tactical. When you buy this rifle, you get two magazines each with seven pellets.

Thumbs Up

  • Has a unique and beautiful skeleton design
  • The cocking mechanism is easy to use
  • The pressure gauge is conveniently located under the barrel
  • The rifle’s stock can be extended

Thumbs Down

  • It a bit bulky
  • To load the pellet, you will require something pointed such as a pen

  • Pre-Charged Pneumatic mechanism
  • Side lever action
  • Two stage adjustable trigger
  • Manual safety
  • .22 caliber
  • 290cc air capacity

Who is it for?

The Evanix Tactical is not the cheapest rifle, but it offers you great value for your money. Thus, if you can meet the rifle’s price tag, then you will not regret it.

I dare say this rifle is the best PCP rifle for the money. Therefore, it is designed for the high-end market. In essence, it is a great rifle for the serious and professional shooter.

Factors To Consider Whens Buying The Best Air Rifles or Best Pellet Guns

After reading my comprehensive pellet gun reviews, it is time to help you get an air rifle or pellet gun. There is an almost endless selection of air rifles available for your selection. So what should you consider when buying your first, second or even third air rifle? Below are some of the factors I consider when I go air rifle shopping.

The type

There are three main air rifle categories available in the market, pre-charged pneumatic, CO2 powered, spring loaded and gas ram. While spring loaded rifles are harder to load, they are cheap and readily available. They are also cheaper and easier to maintain compared to pre-charged pneumatic and CO2 powered air rifles. Pre-charged pneumatic rifles, on the other hand, are powered by compressed air. Thus, you will have to refill your rifle after some time. Pre-charged also does not have a recoil and are silent than spring-loaded. So it will depend largely on your preference.

The caliber

Since air rifle’s use pellets, it is important that you choose the appropriate caliber. The most popular air rifle pellets are .22 and .177 caliber pellets. Basically, speaking .177 pellets are lighter and therefore faster and cheaper. On the other hand, .22 pellets are heavier and pack a heavier punch. So if it is the power you are after then, the .22 pellet will be the right one. Contrastingly, if you want velocity, then the .177 caliber rifle will be your best option.

Gun carriage

The transport of your rifle will be of great importance. In most cities, you will be required to carry your air rifle inside a secure bag. So the bag that comes with your rifle needs to be safe and thick enough to prevent damage to the air rifle.

Other factors that you need to consider are;

  • The cost is a major factor. When you are a beginner, I advise looking at rifles in the under 200 or 100 price categories.
  • Some air rifles come with a scope mounted. A scope can be a great addition, so this is something you need to consider
  • The mounting rail of the gun is also another important factor to consider.
