In fact, this trigger is ideal for people who are not mechanically inclined or who lack the skill of taking this apart. However, this is not the only reason why it is a favorite of many. Its wider trigger blade is another reason.

This wider trigger blade gives your finger more movement and makes controlling the trigger easier. In addition, this wider trigger blade makes it easy to use with gloves on. This is something that hunters will find particularly beneficial.

The pull weight can be adjusted from 1.5 pounds to 4 pounds. Not the most impressive adjustable pull weight but it is still ideal for a variety of tasks. In particular, it is ideal for hunting purposes.

To start with it is exceptionally light. The adjustable pull can be adjusted from a meager 8 ounces all the way to 2.5 pounds. Its pull weight is not as heavy as that of others on this list. If you are used to heavier triggers, this might take some time getting used to.

Similar to all the other triggers on this list, it is of a better quality compared to the Remington 700’s stock trigger. All the important components have a Teflon Nickel coating. While the exterior of the trigger is made from CNC machined aluminum.

Things You Need To Consider To Find The Best Remington 700 Triggers

Before settling on a trigger for rem 700, it is important to consider the qualities that make up the best Remington 700 trigger. Here are the most important qualities to consider when shopping for a replacement trigger.

The Construction

Triggers are constructed from all sorts of material. However, only those constructed from CNC machined aluminum or steel are worth your time. Aluminum and steel are very durable metals that can be turned into corrosion resistant materials.

Your replacement trigger should be made from either one of these two metals. And when it comes to steel, it can either be stainless or carbon steel. Inside a good replacement, the trigger should have heat resistant components.

Corrosion resistance and heat treatment of internal parts will protect your trigger in case of an internal malfunction.

Pull weight

This term refers to the amount of force required to pull the trigger. Most replacement triggers have adjustable pull weights. This means you can adjust the pull weight to fit your desired purpose and shooting style.

In my experience, I have found that a pull weight of between 2.5 and 4 pounds I ideal for hunting. On the flip side, a lighter pull weight will be ideal for long range shooting. The kind of trigger you go for will depend mainly on your shooting style.

It is, however, important to note that changing the pull weight can be a technical process and if done wrong can lead to a faulty trigger. So if you are unsure of how to adjust the pull weight of your trigger, it is better to seek assistance or leave it as it is.

Single stage vs. two stage

Replacement triggers are either single stage or two stage. Of course, there are those that give you the flexibility of both single and two stage. But what exactly does this mean? In the firearms industry, a single stage trigger is one that breaks immediately you pull it.

On the other hand, a two-stage trigger produces a sort of a crank sound when you pull it. Ideally, two stage triggers are ideal for precision shooting. Meaning that single stage triggers are best for tactical applications.

For hunting purposes especially hunting that involves shooting at targets from long distance a two-stage trigger is ideal. This kind of trigger allows you to make micro adjustments before firing a shot.

Ease of use

The whole point of buying a replacement trigger is to replace your gun’s existing trigger. As such, there are some modifications that you may need to make. Thankfully this is not the case with modern triggers.

Most modern replacement triggers are what you would call drop-in triggers. This means you can easily slot them into the trigger area without making any alterations. Thus, when looking for a replacement trigger for your Rem 700 always go for a drop-in.

Also, a good replacement trigger should be adjustable in terms of sear engagement and over travel. In addition to having an adjustable pull weight.

Conclusion

The Remington 700 is undoubtedly an exceptional rifle. But a rifle is only as good as its weakest link. And given the disappointing reputation that the gun’s stock trigger has acquired over the years buying a replacement is always a wise move.

However, not every replacement trigger out there will be a good fit for your Remington. The best Remington 700 trigger will be easy to install and use. The five replacement triggers I have reviewed above are some of the best out there.

They all offer unique features suited to the Remington. In conclusion, there are very many Remington 700 replacement triggers. But not all are worth their asking price. To get value for your money I recommend doing some basic research before buying a trigger.

This article is a great place to start your search. With this in mind, I hope you now have the confidence to go shopping for a replacement trigger for your Remington.

1 thought on “Best Remington 700 Trigger For Remington 700 Bolt Action Rifle”

  1. I have a left handed version of the Remington 700 in 300 RUM. At the range recently with a single cartridge loaded and the bolt closed ready to fire I flipped the safety off and the rifle fired. There was no trigger pull at all, as my finger was well out of the area of the trigger guard. Not believing what had happened I tried a second time with the same result. As soon as the safety was flipped off the rifle fired. This left a significant gash in my left thumb from the safety lever jumping back with the recoil. Wondering what your opinion on this misfiring might be caused by and if the after market triggers you reviewed might solve this dangerous situation. I’ve read some articles and seen some video that shows I’m not the only one that’s had this problem. Thanks for any suggestions you might have.
